"Could You Put That Needle In My Neck, Please?"

I woke up this morning at 4:30am, fed the baby, put him back down, got dressed (fancy pajama style), tip toed out of the house, and got in the car with "Mike the Driver". We drove to Beverly Hills and I dozed off and on along the way. He dropped me off at the surgery center and I checked in for a routine stellate ganglion block for my right shoulder. Let me just start by saying that there is nothing like starting my day with a routine "shot in my neck".
Cons:
✖ way too early in the morning
✖ L.A. traffic
✖ digging around in my neck with a giant needle while I'm wide awake laying there
✖ whole process (leave house to return home) takes 6+ hours
✖ effects only last a few weeks
✖ fasting for 8 hours before
Pros:
❤ I can use my right arm!
❤ I was able to hold the pen and actually sign my name to discharge
❤ "Mike the Driver" is awesome & always has candy
❤ Dr. "Les" Payne seranaded me during the procedure
❤ The anesthesiologist who has done this procedure with me at least 12 times never remembers me, until someone reminds him I yelled "m****** f*****" during a lumbar block.
❤ Marcus' incessant Old School quoting "dude, you got a dart in your neck" the week of😂
Overall it's worth it, but it's just a bandaid - a temporary fix - for my situation. The doc is putting in for my spinal implant trial today! Prayers that this process goes smoothly and I can be "me" again soon!
