Its Friday. And I have ow been in the hospital for 5 days. And today, I have heard that I might be going home today.... maybe tomorrow.... if not, Monday or Tuesday. Gee, how helpful.
After some more information, a new antibiotic, two ultrasound guided IV lines in place and home hospital set up... it is finally time to go! Somehow in this journey, my pants got ruined, so I have a sports bra, shoes, and sweatshirt to go home. Yay, I get to wear the hospital gown even longer... not yay.

Be that as it may, I could care less what I was wearing because I was going home!
My husband had to pick me up from the curb - I wasn't joking when I said nobody was allowed in the hospital. I got in the car and was so relieved to be near him and to hold his hand. I held his hand as much as I could the whole drive home.
He and the kids and some extra help cleaned up the whole house for my arrival. And we had dinner and I got all my hugs that I needed!
Balls bouncing, doors opening, bare feet running through the house, whining, crying, laughing, loving.... the best. Simply, the best medicine.
I will require an IV running 24/7 with antibiotics until April 7th. I have a nurse who comes daily to switch the IV bag. The doctor told me that I should be feeling better around April 7th, too. Until then, no lifting or bending and rest, rest, rest.
My family is here taking such good care of me. Even if I am still stuck in bed a lot, at least I can have cuddle partners and movie buddies throughout the day and I never sleep alone.
This journey has been a whirlwind, to say the least. I am just ready to get past this point. My doctors have mentioned we can discuss a new implant, but it won't be for at least 6 months, so I will need to figure out a plan to get from here to there. Meanwhile the whole world is still in disarray with COVID-19.
2020 is proving to be a year of extremes. Let's hope to get on the more positive end soon. And just be grateful for even these quarantined times, because life is just too short.
