Starting Over

Here we are in June of 2020. At this point, I SHOULD be mostly recovered from BOTH spinal implants and starting some occupational and physical therapy. However, being that 2020 has turned into some sick kind of joke, here I am with a massive back scar, a not so massive ass scar, and nothing to show for it!

I met with the infectious disease doctor. And let me tell you, he is a brilliant man! I could see his brain working as he pulled out fascinating information. He validated that I am one-of-a-kind and said the infection of the implant was rare, the fact it turned to meningitis was rare, the particular strain of strep infection was even more rare, and the neutropenic fever caused by my unknown allergy to Bactrim was rare. Add that all up and I am just the rarest of the rare! After going through all that discussion and history, he cleared me for surgery! Woot woot!!!!! Not until June 24th, but it's already effing June!
I still have more hoops and loops and ribbon to navigate, but it's a start and I can see that light at the end of the tunnel again. It's there. I was crawling through pure darkness recently, but there is some light now.
More to come!

You are rare! And I think we all enjoy that about you. I am very excited that you have a new date and can’t wait to see you feeling better again!
