Wedding Guest Planning

My husband is in a wedding this weekend in Las Vegas. The thought that we get to be kidless in Vegas sounds like a dream! Insert: happy dance Then, the logistics, the finances, and all the grown up planning comes into play. Insert: glum shuffle
We decide to stay off the strip to save money and we will only stay one night (wedding night). We plan to take our Honda to save on gas. Sounding good, right? Right. Well, until I think about what I am going to wear. Not that what I will wear is too meaningful, but I am trying to envision the whole "getting ready" process and remember I am not who I used to be.
I was originally thinking I would just hit up on of the other wifeys there and get ready in their room, since our reservation wouldn't be ready til almost wedding time. Uh, ya right, Kim! What the eff are you thinking?
First of all, if I am planning to get ready for more than just a doctor appointment or soccer game, I am going to need about half a day. As I get ready, I need lots of breaks and lots of rest. If I am planning to be awake after 9pm, then I need a serious nap. No, nota cute little cat nap on a recliner or on top of the sheets! I need a full sleep, drooling and snoring, under the covers of a bed to prepare for that!
The amount of prep time and planning that goes into me trying to do anything worth my salt is way more than you can imagine! When I got ready for Christmas Eve dinner this past year, I started on December 23rd and I am not exaggerating one sliver.
So, long story short, we are paying for an extra night at the hotel, so we can check in as soon as we get there and I can start my process. I would much rather spend the money than leave early and be in worse pain. It may make the trip more expensive, but it will make the wedding a much happier memory.
Now, back to what I am going to wear! I get lesions on my arms from the CRPS. Imagine something like the nerves burning pain from the inside out that ends up lookimg like cigarette burns. Suuuuuuper attractive... not! Also, I am not near the weight I want to be. And, because of this lovely disorder, wearing heels is out of the question. But, I want to look sexy. Not an easy task, but Torrid to the rescue! I even had a couple options to choose from, but I will post a picture later of the winning dress! I wish I could wear heels with it, but it is what it is.
Hair & makeup will be done by myself bit by bit throughout the day on Saturday. I have the coolest hair tool that lets me do my hair! I have a hard time lifting my arms over my head, let alone try to work a curling iron all over my long hair! But, I did a ton of research and invested in the Chi Spin and Curl. (I got mine on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0795WDZZ9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_cpyLDb5PFSEQS) If you have arm pain or limited range of motion, I swear by this thing! I can do my whole head by myself.
Makeup will be trickier. The way I do it for everyday allows me to hold the brushes in a funky way that is forgiving to my limitations. I have very limited grip strength, so writing with a pen looks like a 4 year old did it sometimes. I definitely don't want my makeup to look like my youngest daughter did it. She loves makeup, but not wedding approved. My plan will be to just do a step, rest, do a step, rest. I am hoping I won't cramp or flare doing it. And, worst case, meet up with someone to finish the job.
Wish me luck and low pain days while the hubby and I get away! I hope some of my planning and prepping tips can help you!
